selling the Midget?

Well, I hate to do it but I put my '63 up on Craigslist today. I stumbled on a cheap non running Fiat ('81 x1/9), foolishly bought it, got it running. Plan is to make that my toy (longer driving season and not so precious I don't dare commute in it).
Not too excited about letting this one go. I really love the thing, but well, two young drivers in the household, we need something for everyone to drive, not just me.
Part of me hopes I can't find a buyer! Not in a position to start a collection unfortunately. We'll see, if I can't get a decent price I'll happily flip the Fiat and keep the Midget.

And just why can the kids not drive the Midget. Mine learned to drive on a Bugeye and useed it for school as I was out of town about 3 weeks a month.

Them and the car I would trust. Every other poop head behind the wheel of a 4,000lb killing machine I don't. I watched some bimbo blond with a cell phone stuck to her head nearly run two cars off the highway just today, I don't think she even knew. I want my kids in a big car with air bags and such. Just me.

I think that makes a lot of sense. These cars are OK for an experienced driver who knows what he's doing. But I agree, they're just not up to modern safety standards, and that's a real worry when a young, inexperienced driver is using one.

At the same time, "large" does not equate to "safe." Lots of small, fun cars have good safety features and better crash-test results than the big ones. As an extreme example, my Smart has antilock brakes and stability control, and top crash test ratings. My younger son, who is 26 but has driven only a couple years, has a 2004 Corolla. Not exciting, but ideal for him.

So, post a link to the ad. We'd all like to see it and the outrageous price you've put on it.

Didn't you say it was your son who had to unplug the horn when it went off without reason? I'll bet he feels he has a vested interest in the car at this point. It would be a shame for him to loose access to the Spridget but I understand your position.
