TR6 Maybe Selling a 76 TR6

My Father-in-Law maybe selling his 1976 TR6. This car is perfect. Engine has been rebuilt, red line tires, body is perfect, interior has been redone, has original hard top etc... It is a non overderdrive car. It is located just outside of Charlotte NC. He has over $20,000 invested. I think he is selling it at around $13,000. this seems kinda low. What do you guys think? I dont want him to cheat his self out of what he should get for it.

Well, a $1 invested isn't worth a $1 in value. You can always price it high and see what happens, the market will speak as to it's value (boy, sounded like Sports Car Market there for a second. Apologies to published Martin)

Yeah, I think that is what he is thinking. This is his second Tr6. His first was around 1972. His dad let him go back packing around Europe when he Graduated fro UNC Chapel Hill and pick out a new Triumph! He had it shipped to the states (this one was overdrive and green) and the rest is history. He is selling it because he just opened a new sporting good store in Mt Airy NC (Home of Andy Griffith Show) and purchashed a 1953 GMC Pick UP to go along with the theame of the store. He i selling it because he hasnt driven it in a few years. My brother-in-law and I took it out last summer and it ran graet. It has been stored in a garage since. His motto is "if you dont used it every year sell it" I am trying my best to get him to keep it... but I think im losing. If I didnt have two house payments I would buy it.

If it's mechanically sound, no rust, decent paint and a good interior, I'd price it higher and see what happens. A detailed engine bay helps to raise the price too. My only concern would be the lack of use over the past few years as rubber/seals tend to deteriorate over time and with lack of use. You didn't mention how he plans to sell it i.e. eBay, local classified, online classified.
