Seat Bottom diaphrams vs webbing

Hi,

I'm getting tired of my seats being rather limp in the support department. I need to replace the seat bottom webbing, but I've been eyeballing the early style diaphrams. Are the early style diaphrams useable on the later MGB seats that came with webbing?

Also, I know looks can be deceiving, so can someone here comment on whether or not the daiphram seat bottoms offer more support than the webbing bottoms?

Thanks

Seat frames are essentially the same, so I don't see where there's any problem in using either. My PO redid the webbing in mine with what looks like hold-down strap material. with a few extra pieces - and weaved together like an oldschool lawnchair - very sturdy.

I personally like the solid diaphragms...I think they provide more support...but, this is another of those preference areas.

I agree with Tony, but if your webbings are bad, new ones add alot more support.

well... hmmm... maybe I ought to go with webbing then? the webbing in my driver's seat is completely gone. I've a REALLY thick foam rubber pad under the seat cushion to keep me off of the floor.

Is the diaphram adjustable at all?

Had a mini moke once, had a rubberized canvas piece that was laced with something akin to a long bootlace to the frame, allowed you to "adjust the squab height!"

I did the first seat with the diaphragm and found it to be way too stiff. Stewart has it right, I sat much higher than I liked and I'm a tall guy. The diaphragms were a pain to install and started tearing right away. This may have been due to my inexperience, but, I took it out and put the webbing in. Worked great for me. I also left the seat rail packing strip out to gain more headroom. Tony needs the soid diaphragm plus a phonebook to sit on....

I just received a new set of webbing to install. Does anyone have any tips on how to stretch them on? A screw driver with a divot in it to push the clips over, perhaps?
