Replacing Suspension bushings...

How difficult is it to replace all the suspension bushings on my 77 B with the Moss prothane kit?

In the grand scheme of things, not a terribly difficult job. After you've done it once, it's actually pretty easy. The worst part will be rusty hardware. I'd recommend a spring compressor as well to make it easier.

Just time is all. I just did my entire front end on my '74Roadster including the frame. It'll probably take a full day. Mine took 4 hours and there were two of us doing it and I had the luxary of a lift. The lift really only saved my back and I am in the process of prepping to do my '67GT. I've got all the pieces for it at the powder coaters. If you are just going to do the pivot arms, it should not be that bad.

I'm buying the whole kit for the front and the rear.
My car doesn't have any rust down there. How difficult is it to remove the whole crossmember? I think I remember Tony telling me something about the bolts near the exhaust becoming fused in.

Oh, and how much does it cost to get all them parts powder coated? (I may just have to krylon mine) Looks great!

Be prepared to battle kenny but hopefully it will go quickly. As steve said its pretty easy once you have done it and the reinstall is very easy but rust even if it looks clean and rust free is a royal pita and may add hours or days to the job. Start soaking everything with pb blaster now. Make sure to order new upper and lower bolt kits as they may be stuck and may have to be cut to remove. Also the A arms may be ovaled out so dont be shocked if they need to be replaced. Since your staying with stock springs a spring compressor is a good idea

As normal once you do one side the other will go very quick unless you have my car and the other side is taking 3 times as long thanks to rust and the swivel axle assembly is still firmly stuck to the shock thanks to a rusty bolt but its now off the car.

I have not picked up the parts yet but he told me around $125.

I gave him:

Crossmember
Springs (2)
Pans (2)
Pivot arms (2)
Suspension Arms (4)
Backing plates (2)
Sway bar
Sway bar Brackets (2)
Washers (4)

He's going to blast them and then powder coat them. Not a bad deal if that is the price when I pick it up. Even if it is more, it's easier and cheaper than when I did the Roadster. I spent hours de-greasing standing at the blaster, then priming and painting. I could have been doing other things with my time.

You can drop the cross member as a unit. I also took out my Rack & pinnion at the steering universal. Made life easier. Bolt up cross member, add all the parts back on, align insert key & smile. I started at 9:00AM and finished at 2:00PM. We could have shaved two hours if I did not prep the incorrect Rack. That killed the day.

I, on the other hand, spent 3 weekends doing mine...but I disassembled everything on jack stands and used POR15 on all the parts. It was a fairly easy job and I took my time. One problem I had was that the pin for the bushing was a bit corroded and I could not use the metal lined V-8 bushing as I had planned, so I ordered the regular bushings and continued the job the next weekend. Anybody want a good deal on the V-8 bushings???
