Remove/Replace XKE Coupe Headliner

Can anyone tell me how to remove and replace the headliner in a Ser.1 XKE Coupe, 3.8 L?
I have all the inside metal door trim above the doors and to the right and left of the interior lite removed, but can not see how to get the cloth off the strips right above the doors/windscreen or how to pull the headliner down. Is it glued to the top?
When I pull on the cloth right above the doors, to get it to untuck from the welded-on inside door trim pieces, it tears, rather than pull out, like I think it should. (This is at the junction of the side trim cloth, where it fits around the welded-on trim piece, and seems to go under the headliner; right above the doors and windscreen.)
Any help on how to remove this will be appreciated.

Jim,
I'm no E Type expert but I do have a book called 'The Most Famous Car in the World' by Philip Porter about his restoration of 9600 HP, the Jaguar Car Company's Geneva show launch car.
It has a photograph of the trimmers preparing to replace the headlining which states "it is glued in place" and there is not a lot of room for error as it is put in place. Good luck.

As an aside I also have another book called 'The Most Famous Car in the World' by Dave Worrall about the James Bond film Aston Martin DB5.

It's been ten years since I did mine and as I remember the cantrail covering was tough to get out. There was some type of cord? sewed into the back edge that gets tucked in to hold it in place. Once you get it started it will come out. When I replaced the headliner I found it was only a little bit larger then what I needed and was worried about starting it perfectly straight so as not to run out of material. I took someold time clothes pins, the kind with a spring, took them apart which left some small wooden wedges. with the help on my wife and daughter we stuffed the headkiner into place and wedged it with the clothes pin halfs. I then dropped 1/4 of it and sprayed the top and back of liner with 3M adhesive spray and carefully worked it back into place. Same procedure with the other 3/4's. Be VERY careful as you only get one shot at this. I do have one picture of the wedges holding the headliner in place that I could scan and send to you.
