I seem to recal a discussion about them, but I can't recall where the discussion was. There's a few places on the firewall that have them and I'm trying to put the ones I have from when I tore apart my car, back to their correct
location(s). I don't think you can buy the red grommets anywhere so having the originals is a real "plus" in the bragging rights column. The red color is more like a dull, dark, muted type of red and not a bright red.
They're there, but the don't jump out at you.

the only reddish grommets I took out of my bj8 were on the bottoms of the doors, all my original bulkhead were black. I cant remember which of the 3? holes in the bottoms of the doors had the hole blocked and which were left to drain. I think the 3rd may of been in the rear shroud.
I respectively think you may be wrong with the bulkhead.

I might be wrong about the bulkhead area myself, but I did find one area that does have the small red grommet hole plug and that is for the gas pedal linkage for a R/H drive car. This is blocked on L/H drive cars. My frame is a Jule-Enterprise frame and the R/H drive holes were left off. I'm not sure about the door areas that you described. I have photos of an original car that a good friend of mine was nice enough to let me take the photos about 1980 so I'm sure I'm correct on the gas pedal linkage.
Thanks!
Patrick
