Radiator Shroud "Chinese Red" Match Needed

Looking for the exact match, figured I'd try here first. Mine still has some on it, but cannot scan it with prophet due to the curve in the guard.

I looked all over for 'authentic' Chinese red paint a couple years ago. I tried to match a photo of an original, low-mileage BJ8 with a never-repainted radiator. The red on that car's fan shroud looked very slightly purplish to me. Never found anything quite like it and ended up painting 'Sunrise Red' IIRC. Maybe you could blend an off-the-shelf red with a dollop of blue.

thanks Bob, afraid I may have to go that route, kinda like the Tudor Blue on the washer bottle holder, had that matched years ago. My 65 BJ8 fan guard has its original paint under a topcoat of ???? red. I was able to color sand thru and hand polish out to see the original color, so I have that to eye ball match. But as I stated the prophet could not read the paint because of the curve. I wanted to get this nailed down for my car as well as the 25k original 67 here in my shop ( original carpets,convertible top,interior, harduras,all tools, and all dealer documents. pretty cool time capsule and a dream to work on.

Originally, I posted Rustoleum "Safety Red", available in spray and brush cans. It is ever-so-slightly bluer than the "Chinese Red". I've used it to paint underhood bits as it is quite close to Colorado Red.

Don't know where I heard it, but, the factory wasn't too particular about this red - whatever they got a good price on.

Dont forget colour is all in the eye of the beholder . What looks a match to you may look off by a mile to someone else .
Also I bet if you found 10 original untouched fan shrouds with original paint they would be different shades/colours ,
look how many shades of Healey Blue or BRG there are .
Like Steve points out , it all depends on what was cheap and available . All they wanted to do was highlight the shroud as an area to keep fingers and neck ties away from .
