TR2/3/3A Red ignition light stays on

The dashboard red light that comes on when I start my revived 61 TR3 is now staying on. I thought I might have misplaced a wire when I installed a new oil pressure guage, but everything appears to be in order: two white wires attached to the back of the red light.
I am running the original generator, which seemed to be working fine (the light went out after starting) until I installed the new guage. The ammeter shows the battery charging.
What's up? Any thoughts?

The first time I started the engine I had not completed the wiring. The red ignition light did not go out when the motor was running.

Finishing the wiring made this go away - specifically I assume it was a missing ground connection.

suggest checking the ground by the voltage stabilizer - assuming the TR3 wiring is similar to my 4A.

The red light illuminates when there is a voltage difference between the white from ignition and a line coming off the generator. Folks that are smarter than me can elaborate… but it means the generator is not providing voltage.

The "D" terminal on the regulator, if all is well in the actual charging system, should show maybe 4 volts at low idle and 12 or so to 14 or so when you revv things up. The small gauge yellow wire goes to the red light. It should read the same at the end that connects to the red light as the "D" terminal voltages. If not, check the continuity from the wire connector on the small yellow to its connection with the red light.

The other weird thing is that if the bulb ever fails to light, the generator/alt will never charge. Breaks the circuit .
