rear spring selection

Wondering about your thoughts on rear springs.

1500 series with 340lbs comp springs from Moss up front. The rear is stock except for some polybushings. It presently sits about 3"+ taller out back. It also leans a little driver....

I'm wondering if the moss #265-490 springs for a pre-75 with 1/2 eleptic suspension will bring the rear down 1.5"? should it have the same spring rate?

I'm tempted to take my existing ones down to a local spring shop and have them re-arched (de-arched) to bring it down a couple of inches, but I don't know if they'll be able to correct the sag on the drivers side.

Anyone have a thought on how to go about this?

Jollyroger posted a great tutorial a while back about how to de-arch springs at home. Anyone know where to find that?

If the rate seems about right, you can just use spacers between the leaf and the axle. Don't go crazy on this, but up to 1.5 inches (aluminum plate ) is probably OK. You'll need longer u-bolts (Moss has them....but I made mine).
My car is a bit "twisted", so I have a bit more spacers in one side than the other to get things level...this is pretty common.
I also de-arched my springs slightly (and cold) using a hydraulic pipe bender and some wood forms. Pretty easy.
I running one extra stock leaf (the second longest) and it works out good for racing...you don't want to go too stiff on these cars.

When you say twisted what do you mean? Are you using 6061 ALum. for your spacers? Were your homemade u bolts steel rods TBE and bent to match the shape of the axle housing?

not to hot on the idea of blocks, but I'm considering them as a partial solution.... I'd rather get it out of the springs. I realize the output of the engine doesn't make axle wrap too real of a concern in this car's case, but I've seen too many of those blocks fail off-road to want to trust them (speaking from my experiences in the jeep world).

What would a block do in terms of lateral stability? I'm thinking about building a trackbar while I'm at it, so I guess I can eliminate part of the problem there....

I'm looking for jollyroger's post since I'd love a DIY solution!
