Power wash report...

Just giving you folks the courtesy of a report on the power washing I gave the underside of the mg...not really something I want to do again, but I might have to. I guess I got about 1/2 or more of the grease/oil/dirt/crud off, only to have it turn the driveway into an oil slick. It was terrible. I did find the grease fittings though for the front end steering so that helped - it also looks like the bushings could be redone from what I could see. The underside and the wheel wells were coated at some time in the past with that gooey preservative which is coming off in some small areas - bare metal showing now. I'm undecided what to do for the time being as the underside is still pretty greasy - thinking about maybe taking it to a body shop to have it done more completely and then have it recoated. Right now though I'm just nursing my sore back, legs, feet, hands, etc. etc. - alot of work and very little to show for it...thanks...

Ah, so you had fun...did you?

I have a gravel driveway, so I figure all the toxins that are blown off the bottom of my car serve as "weed killer" for my driveway. Laying on your back, pressure-washing the bottom of a car *is* a humbling experience....especially on muddy gravel.
If you go to any of the local hot-rod car shows (like the one at the Chatterbox Restaurant on Saturday nights), you'll see guys who put mirrors under their cars so that you can see how clean the bottom of the car is! Mine will never be that clean.

Jim, probably the best way to get the belly completely clean is to have it steam cleaned. By someone else, of course!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Check the yellow pages or the net and find sombody local, have it done, and then take it to a body shop to be recoated. The perfect solution would be to find someone who does steam cleaning, and has a hoist!
Whichever way you decide to go, get some protection on that bare metal soon!

Jeff
