new tierod ends for mg

Hello All,

Joined the forum the other day. I did a search and couldn't find anyone with a similar problem so here goes. I upgraded my splined wire wheels to Superlites 14x6 which as the shop told me were a direct replacement for the mgb wires. First iteration of trying the new wheels on the hubs found that the tierod was too big and hit the inside of the wheel, so I ordered a smaller diameter tierod from the B-hive. Now the tierod just clears by about a 1/16th but the convolution of the boot rubs.Any suggestions comments would be welcomed on what I can do. I'm sure after driving around like this the boots are going to rip.

Adjusted tie rods and all ok now, well test drove in my driveway and no more rubbing sounds. Now on to the lights.

I have an identical problem after upgrading to 6" wires. It only occurs on the front passenger side. How did you resolve the problem? Thanks.

If you have have standard outer tie rod end look at where they make contact, it the upper corner close to the inside of the wheel, part of the castinmg of the tie rod and it barely kiss the inside of wheel, I just took a grinder and chamfer the that upper edge (its a common trick on these cars), and it worked out fine, that was probalby close to 10,000 miles ago.
