Here is a link to my 1952 MG TD that I have started working on. Any tips comments hints or parts would be greatly appreciated.

Only just reviving my BGT, this is next on the list. I'm sure these are some similarities and many differences.

I tired to get the pics in here in order of the unveiling but they did not download to Photobucket that way.

I hope the link works this time.

Well....if you insist, I guess I'll help you...hehehehe

...I've put together some numbers of fasteners when I was doing mine...when you're ready, I know the Moss numbers for all the hardware to hang the fenders, running boards, doors....I may have an extra set of steel wheels - have an extra gas tank I cut to clean out (no rust) & can reweld so the opening I made doesn't show....might have an extra hearter & a few other things....Know I have a great extra set of top bows.

I'm not ripping her apart yet just want to get it roadworthy & drive it. I may have an used top coming to from someone I met on another list. I think I need 1 or two steel wheels.
Parts that I may need can be used, old & dirty as long as they function.

I lookied at every Pic and am I impressed. Nothing but dirt grime and a bit of surface rust.

You are do fortunate to have located such a nice project. Wish I had one just like that. Wife would be very happy.

Thanks. Yes the rust is all just surface and it has only appeared since I have had it in NY. It has never seen bad weather. Dirt & grime indeed. Still trying to experiment with getting the dirt off the paint & try to put a shine on it. It is so thin, a little too much elbow grease exposes the primer.
This might take a little longer than the BGT to get running.

I would love to have a t-series...especially a 1953 TD MKII - my birth year.

I passed recently on a 1948 MGTC....would have been major $$ to restore.

Sure who would'nt want a mark II if you can get one. I'll take it!! A TC would be nice too. Starting to sound like Tony. If I had my way, I would have one of each. Gotta retire and win the lottery and then only then will I go a little bit crazy buying cars.
The guy who gave me the hood bought a TC. It was either good to part out and he'd recoup what he spent or $$$ on a restoration. He'd going for the resto.

That really is a great find....Very solid looking car, it will definatly make a great project.....It reminds me alot of my TC when I got it..I wish i'd taken more pics before pullin it apart because some of the similarities are very strange.

Heres a pic from after I did a little cleaning.....I did it with some rubbing compound to get the grim off(it was sitting since 1964)and then a coat of wax. I got it running before I tore it apart, but never drove it as the brakes where gone and I wasn't going to rebuild them only to tear them apart again.

What years was the TF made? I'm strangely attracted to them.

1953 to 1955. There were 9,600 made from 10/53 to 2/55.

That figures. Most car I like were made in less than 10,000 numbers and are extremely hard to find - and expensive when you do find them. Oh well.

Hello,

I have some stuff you may need. We sold the TD many moons ago, but still have a very nice tach and speedo (sans clock, and needs new rubber gaskets, but in VERY nice shape, both worked great when I chucked them up in the drill test), and a freshly rebuilt (zero miles) pedal assembly (both clutch and brake, no shaft play, fresh bushings, zerks / clips and pedal pads).

E-mail me if interested.

Great car BTW, love the color combo. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif
