I know some of you are on some of the "other" sites as well so for you this is not new info but....
I finally got back to work on the TR6. Last year was a bit of a mess for all of us but for me (truck driver) I was busier than ever with work.
I put the body back on the (almost finished) frame and fitted the doors, hood, trunk and fenders (or doors, wings, bonnet and boot if you prefer). I got all of the gaps looking pretty good. On the finished chassis I have made a couple of mistakes and have to go back and fix them. The rear brake backing plates got switched. The left on right and the right on the left. Whoops, I'll get it. Secondly, I didn't realize that the throwout bearing sits in a carrier. I assembled it without the carrier. Bear in mind I didn't take this car apart and have never worked on one of these before now. And lastly the fan belt is too wide. It's the one I got in all of the boxes of parts.
I also found out just how much bend there is in the original frame. The original is pretty solid but the left side front frame rail is bent upwards 1 1/1 inches (3.81 cm).
I am going to use the original frame as a support for the body while I do my bodywork. Now that I know how much and where the issue is with the original I can work around it.
The left floor pan, inner and outer sill, right outer sill and the backs of the B-Pillars will be replaced. Also, the lower rear inner valance panel.
This is pretty new territory for me as I am much more of a mechanic than a bodyman, but I am ok with stepping out of my comfort zone.
Thanks for looking!
