Chris Lawrence was a prominent driver/tuner in the 1950s and 1960s, producing championship-winning TR powered Morgans.
With John Sprinzel the Sprite guy, he also designed and built a small number of alloy bodied race cars, one on a TR chassis, the others Morgan chassis, called Sprinzel Lawrence Racers or "SLR".
Finally, I have an article with cutaway drawings showing a crossflow head he developed for the TRactor motor, using very long rocker arms to operate the exhaust valves.

I would like to do an article for the club mag, so would appreciate any additional info and pictures anyone can provide to fill out the story.

Over to you, historians!
Thanks, Simon.

I have no personal knowledge, but you might want to check out J.L.S. Maclay's Triumph TR Tuning book - it has a cutaway on Page 91, a short description on page 111 and a photograph of it with Valve cover removed. I have a .pdf of the book with very poor pictures if you can't find it anywhere else.

the book also discusses a Tecalmit-Jackson petrol injection setup for the TRactor motor ...

I would recommend sending Ken Hill an email; he has written several Morgan books and is very open for morgan chat. He and his wife Janet currently operate "janet Hill Ventures", selling Morgan models and automobilia.

morganmodels@btinternet.com

John Worrall, author of "Original Morgan" and proprietor of heart of England Morgans, would also be another source:

sales@heartofenglandmorgans.co.uk

I am a little embarrassed to say I'm not sure, but i think Christopher lawrence is still out there; if so, either one of these contacts should be able to put you in contact with him.

Not long ago I would have recommended calling Peter Morgan himself, but with his passing, I'm not sure who at the factory that would be both knowledgeable and helpful.

I'll keep an eye out for your article!

Hi Simon

My name is Jarrod Ingleton, and I am based in Australia.
I was interested to read that you have the details and drawings for the crossflow head. I was asking someone on the TR regsiter this week if they new where I could purchase a crossflow head for my TR3A. I am currently having the engine re-built to race spec with a steel crank, forged pistons, longer rods etc. etc.

Do you know if there are crossflow heads available for sale?
An if not, is it possible to get a copy of the drawings from you? PLEASE

I look forward to hearing from you.

Best regards
Jarrod Ingleton

What kind of photos are you looking for? My dad (Bill Fink of Isis Imports) owned one of the 3 Morgan SLRs until very recently - it is now sold and being restored for racing. I have tons of pics, if still interested.
