Youngster's Interest in Triumphs

A beautiful day on the island, an early 8:00 AM meeting
with a client at a very $$ condo. Valet parking for
visitors' autos.

What the heck? Why not take the now functional Six?
Drive, drive, drive in rush hour traffic.

The kid at the valet parking is maybe 25 years tops.
I pull in thru security in Amos. A crowd begins to
gather. A few Beemer and Cedes folks begin to stop on
their way out and walk over to see this strange red car.
My clients is snapping away with his digital camera.
The hood get popped, lots of oohs and aahhs......

The valet kid starts lecturing to the crowd, reeling out
the stats on my car!! HP, carbs, cylinders, Lucas stuff,
etc!! You could have knocked me over with a feather.

He told me where to park my special car away from the "others".
I handed him the keys and told him to drive it himself.

I sure wish I had a photo of his biggest grin I've seen
in a long time as he drove off. It made my day!!

Dale, it looks to me that you are finally experiencing the magic of these cars. I know you put alot of hard work and money into this project, and I'm glad that it is now starting to pay you back. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cheers.gif

I'll bet experiences like this mean so much more to Dale because of all of the problems that he has overcome with Amos. Good on you Dale. I hope you have many more similar stories to tell us over the coming months.

It was only a matter of time until it finally happened. Dale trusts Amos and the world is his oyster......

Gotta tell ya... That is so cool. Dale, I'm so happy that you let the kid park Amos. That will mean more to him than anyone could know.

Good on ya Dale. It is fun to see the joy on a young ones face when we allow them to share in our hobby. Great that you are willing to pass some of the fun along.

Dale,
That rocks.

You could make a MasterCard advertisement
"Trailing arm bracket bushings... $99.95 plus 35 hours to install,

paint booth, oven, and various colors of powder coating... $1,999.95

unquantifiable amounts of bolts, nuts, electrical components, broken knuckles, etc... another significant sum of money...

the huge smile on the face of the parking lot attendant... priceless"

It makes my day just knowing it did yours and his.
Keep up the good work,
Jerry

Dale;
This is a good story. But whom is this crypt car of which they speak? I seem to have a small memory of an attack, but not really sure.
You now are enjoying this car as much as anyone could.

Glad to hear you are enjoying the car. Nice story.
But, did you check the mileage before tossing him the keys? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Dale: I have had young'uns check out my car and have
been surprsied at times how familiar they actually are.

An aside story: Went to lunch with a client once. He
drives a nice Beemer. Arrive at the restaurant.
Valet driver takes the car, and I kid you not, drives
it right to the front door. The headlamps were so
close on doube swinging doors that you could only open
one side. Car stayed right there until we left the
restaurant. Looked as natural as eskimo garb in the
desert.

Ever get the feeling there is something very...very
special about your clients? I do at times.

I once had the wife out for a ride and we were sitting at a stop sign when a kid on a bike pulled up beside my wife and looked down into the car and said "Lady, your car is way too cool" The wife really liked being there for that moment.

What an enjoyable Sunday morning read. Almost makes me want to go out in my cold garage and accomplish something. Think I'll give it another hour or two to warm up though.

It's beautiful here. Right now that is. By morning 3"-7" of snow and by tomorrow afternoon another 4"-8" of fresh snow.

I really don't like winter when it snows. I can deal with the cold, but I'm really beginning to hate snow more and more.

As I typed that, I looked out the window and the clods are headed in from the east. The beginning of another Noreaster'
