Getting a good exhaust tone - motorcycle muffler?

Hi

I want to get a cheap good sounding exhaust for my 850cc .....ummm lets call it a Taif because the motor is in the back....

yeah that makes it British....ummm

well anyway can I use a motorcycle muffler off a newer bike , say something from a under 1000cc bike ?

They are cheap because everyone wants a stylish exhaust and more noise, I want a nice tone but really not much noise at idle ,

Bikes just sound so good accelerating , I am hoping to get somewhere near that sound /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

What do you think ?

Beaulieu, I'll have to look at mine tomorrow and see what's on there. I know it sounds wonderful, but don't have a clue as to what it is.
A bike muffler would probably work fine. We have some people at the track running them on their cars, and they sound pretty decent.

The sport compact guys use them all the time. You can pick up a slightly scratched muffler from a new 1000cc sport bike for like $50. They're very light and can support the flow for your needs.

THanks , I was hoping that I was not the only one thinking of this ,

No one will see the muffler so scratches do not matter ,

I will have to start going to the motorcycle swap meet /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif
