Brake pad choices

Moss lists 4 types of brake pads for disc brakes on a Spridget:

585-605 $74.95 PAD SET, “Hawk”
585-625 $79.95 PAD SET, “Greenstuff”
071-537 $36.95 PAD SET, semi-metallic
071-536 $29.95 PAD SET, stock type

Preferences? I'm going with the Brembo discs, just wondering which pads to go with them. I'll always spend more if I get more (I won't cheap when working on this car), but I'll happily spend less if there is no difference in quality between options.

Go with the semi-metallic unless you plan to REALLY flog tunebug. The GreenStuff ones for that. I can't see you needing anything beyond the semi-metallics tho.

Well if you're getting all sexy with Brembos, you might as well go with Greenstuff... but you should be able to find a better deal than that, from a dealer? Practical Classics always has good things to say about them - no personal experience w. them yet, but I'm planning to try them next time.

(rotors... dimpled? grooved? stock? I know it's all just for flash, but I couldn't resist dimpled & cad plated for the VW.)

I just put greenstuff pads on my Land Rover and was WAY impressed! I also, just switched over to greenstuff pads on my MGB, but really haven't got a chance to break them in. At least do semimetalic. But for a few schekles more I would suggest the greenstuff as you'll probably have them for a long, long time. And too, being in Utah, with all the mountains and stuff, I would do whatever I could to ensure my brakes were top notch.

If you want to save some cash....go to: https://www.ajusa.com

You can get the Greenstuff pads for $46 and cross drilled rotors (Brembos) for $55 each (I have these on my Bugeye).

Oh yeah.....free shipping too.

Doing a lot of autocrossing, I found semi-metallic to be perfect without spending 2x the dough. They'll stop you, and don't squeek like the stock ones do. They didn't get near as hot as the stock ones either.
They're only really limited by the fact that we have single piston calipers and no vac booster, so they do alright.
Being in the hills though Drew, agree with all of above, AT LEAST semi-metallic.

Thanks all for the comments. For the few more bucks, I've decided to go with the GreenStuff pads (though it was a close call with the semi-metallic ones). Even small improvements of the semi-metallic are probably worth it here in the mountains.
