Another "Which way round" rubber seal question!

Another "Which way round" rubber seal question!

Today I have been multitasking between several jobs, one of which was installing some McMaster Carr Dynamat equivalent to deaden the rear shelf and footboard. Another was refitting the sunvisors and rearview mirror. And the third was attaching the four aluminium side rails to the soft top, and fitting new rubber seals into them. These seals I think are supposed to touch the inside of the door window glass, with the glass fully up, when the door is closed.

The seals are a curious shape, and I don't know which way round they go. Does anyone have a photo?

Aside: I am most unhappy with the fit of my aftermarket soft top, installed weirdly by a PO. I cannot get the side press studs in, even if I pull the fabric as tight as Charles Atlas might have.

Julian,

Do these help at all?

Thanks Julian and Paul!

My PO removed the seals and I'm going to have to replace them.

Something about velcro too...

Dunno where that goes.

Yes, thanks Paul. I can't quite see: is the "sharp" edge of the rubber moulding on the window side, or the car interior side?

The velcro I can help with, as I did that job today. Here's a photo:

You can see the velcro, a bit out of focus I'm afraid, along the edge of the rail. There is a strip of mating velcro along the edge of the soft top.

The velcro is on the outer side edge to hold the convertible top down tightly. You lift the top away at the velcro before folding the frame down when lowering the top into the down position.

Paul,

Is the "hook" part of the rubber seal facing outwards or inwards?

Thanks!

Julian-

Faces outwards, based on my near photographic memory of changing the seals out about 20 years ago on my last TR6. Now if I can just find my pants, I know that is where I left my car keys..

Okay, if you don't trust me, squint at items 91&93 on the Rimmer Bros illustration, I think you'll spot them facing outwards:
TR6 soft top fittings

I might have known I had them in the wrong way around /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Mind you, the relevant pieces on that diagram are awfully hard to see clearly!

Thanks!
