My friend Bill took everyones concerns to heart and has made a complete kit with new cast bell housing etc.
It is diff than Hermans in thatyou use your stock clutch/fork set up.
There is no need to change flywheels either.
So I think it's nice to have a choice.
I have not had any issues with mine and I've got about a year of driving on it now.

Ive seen Bills conversion first hand and looks to be a great alternative to Hermans. I was over Bill's house saturday and and checked out one of the conversion that was to be sent out. Very well made parts and a great instruction book comes with the conversion. If I was not rebuilding my a-type I would not hesitate to purchase one. Yes Bill is a friend of mine so you may think my opinion is biased. All I know is he will always make good on his word.

Always good to have a second design. I'm sure that they both have their plusses. But I(IMO) like Herman's because:

1) You <span style="text-decoration: underline">don't</span> use your stock clutch/fork set up. The hydraulic setup is really nice and it eliminates the slave& bracket as well as the fork.
2) Unless you've got a TR4 or earlier, no flywheel or clutch change either. It all fits.
3) So does your TR gearshift lever.

Also Herman is now recommending a new custom length proshaft instead of the original locking collar.

But all said, good luck to Bill in his endeavor!

I'm glad to see he went the complete kit route as I was one of the guys who didn't like the idea of cobbling up components to get it installed. I gave Rick Patton the same advice as when he first came out with his TBI conversion as it wasn't a complete kit. Choice is good and a complete kit is better. This makes four different 5 speed conversions that I know about for our cars. Lots of choices now. Good luck to Bill.

On either kit I'd not choose the locking collar for the driveshaft. I used one for a bit and it worked fine but just don't trust all of that spinning mass to a few set screws in a collar.
I bought one of the prop shafts Bill has made for the TR3/4.
The other plus was my drive shaft needed rebuilding and I didn't know it, it wobbled/was out of balance where the shaft moves in the housing and caused the majority of the vibration in the car.
Nice to have choices.

I have a collar too but I'm getting closer to justifying a new one w/o the slider.
