Just returned from the paint shop and preparing to re-assemble the front apron to the body. Since it has been 7 weeks since dis-assembly, and at my age, what is the proper sequence of assembling the apron and deflector. Is there a choice or a preference?

I've always installed the apron first, and then the deflector. The apron moves around a fair amount while you're getting everything lined up (I recommend getting all the bolts started first, before snugging up any of them), and I'm not sure how well the deflector would move with it.

Thanks for the response. I do seem to recall adding the deflector with the apron installed (through the grill opening) but I just thought there might have been a better way. I'll proceed just like I knew what I was doing.

It looks inviting to attack the deflector with the apron off as the access is so good. But don't be fooled, you need the apron in place to help locate the deflector relative to the rad. It's really not too bad. My car never had holes drilled for the horizontal lip so I never drilled new ones, just relying on the 2 chrome support brackets. This thread may help.

I was about to make the same suggestion but Bruce beat me to the punch. The trick for me was getting a good fit around the radiator. The apron was already on so I had to go through the grill opening. If I had the choice, I'd do it again that way. It took some fiddling to get the shroud shaped to fit properly, but it worked out fine. The thread Bruce referenced should be a help.

Following this advice I installed the shroud today and it fits like I knew what I was doing. Thanks to each of you for the input
