Yeah, that was cool deal, him winning with 21 , I was there to watch David and Cale win in the 21 car. Yep, that kid is going places.

I did not realize he was from Sparkle City. Also, did some work in Charlotte last week and found out that Holman Moody (who once built the Woods Bros engines) was in an old hanger on the Charoltte airport property. The building was demoed to make way for the new runway, but the business survives at another location. They apparently own the rights to the MKII GT 40 and still make them.

You are 100% right, Holman Moody, did build the engines for the Woods Bros cars. I flew up to Holman Moody to help a friend finish gathering the rest of the parts to complete the Alan Mann‘s Open Sport Ford Can-Am racer that we were restoring back in the early seventies. While their I notice they had built a pair of 429 Boss racing boat engines that were on display to be ship to King Hussein of Jordan, Sweet!

Holman Moody at that time had purchase from Ford Motor Company the rest of the GT 40 cars and parts. When we were at Holman Moody they were finishing up a GT40 that was never completed for competition but rather it was sold to a customer to drive on the street, What a ride! You could look around the collection of parts and see GT 40 doors with Peter Revson name on them, or across the room you would see front nose sections hanging up next to the walls. The Hanger was equip with mezzanine shelving, so we decided to check out the second floor where we found steel parts binds with hub carriers, control arms, rod ends, sway bars, seats,spare tubs, everything to build several more GT40’s. Their were atleast a half dozen wooden crates with the big LG500 Hewland gear boxes, even saw Ford's prototype automatic transmission gear box too, VERY RARE!! Their were crates of brand new Hailbrand wheels labeled LeMans France, what a sight! To top the whole trip off we were shown the Gurney, foyt’s winning LeMans racer. All I can say, it was a trip back into racing history, one that I’ll never forget!!
