We have a 64 BJ8 early phase II, 28207 Vin. The original wooden battery support in the right rear trunk (boot) as removed from the car is 3" thick. Moss catalog says they were 3/4" up to Vin 76139 (Moss #031-411) and then were 3" (Moss 031-423).
What changed, why the difference?
Why would ours be fitted with a 3" support when it is suppose to be 3/4" Putting the 3" support in the car pushes the battery out further than necessary, 3/4" would be perfect giving more space. We have converted to negative ground and the battery group is I-24. Group 24, I was advised is the correct size.
If this matters, our car was an "export car" delivered to Germany for that market. Somehow it found its way here.
So I am thinking of cutting mine support down with a table saw unless someone wants mine for fitting to what appears to be latter BJ8s. If so let me know and I will sell it for the price of a new 3/4" support.
Thanks
