BJ8 Clutch Fork Bush Replacement

How do you replace the two bushes in the clutch fork. They are pressed in.
What's the best way to remove them?
What's the best way to install them?
I don't want to damage the aluminum housing in the process.
Thank you in advance.

Drift them out with a socket that is a little bit smaller than the bushing and carefully install the new ones in a similar way using something that won’t damage the brass (a hardwood block)

I had a friend with a lathe turn this pusher tool for me. 5/8 diameter aluminum rod turned to .620 on the big diameter and around .485 on the small diameter. The .485 section is optional but keeps the tool aligned well for both removal and installation of the bushings (especially for the install process). Heating the aluminum housing locally helps a lot also, use a heat gun or hair dryer. Using the tool and mild heat the bushings remove and install with only mild hammer hits. Another option would be to use this piece of rod from McMaster-Carr > McMaster-Carr <
Shipping from them is quite reasonable, usually less than $10 for something like this. Or try to find a socket slightly under 5/8 diameter

Would using a hacksaw blade to cut one grove all the way though the bush help?
Then tap it out?

Absolutely would help, just need to be careful not to bugger up the aluminum bore, a little would be ok as long as you smooth them out before installing the new bushings. The harder one to install is the lower one, but heat up housing with a heat gun first and it should tap in easy. Just harder to align the bushing and keep it straight without the pusher tool.
