Gentlemen:
I recently got my 1960 BE on the road after nearly nine months on the shelf. But now I have a problem:
- I'm having problems getting the car to shift gears. In fact, it seems that the clutch performance has deteriorated in the last few times it has been driven. Now it is nearly impossible to get the car to shift into 2nd gear. When I bring the car to a halt and have the clutch pedal depressed the car stalls (indicating that the clutch is not disengaging). I must add the the master cylinider is holding fluid.
- Also: The car pops out of fourth gear. This was a problem that I bought with the car, but I thought that once I installed new engine and trans mounts that this problem would go away, but it hasn't.
My son thinks the master cylinder should be rebuilt in order to fix the shifting problem. Is he right?
Regarding the popping out of fourth gear: Is this a major rebuild deal? If yes, is it better to buy a replacement tranny or get the one I have rebuilt?
Let me know,
Mike Pennell
