Proper Installation of shock mounting plate

Since we have 2ft of snow outside, I thought I might try to complete this winter project on my Longbridge BN4. I need to install the right hand shock mounting plate on top of my replacement Kilmartin shock tower. I was lucky to have an OEM shock plate RH 1B8839 (adaptor-suspension housing) in my parts inventory, now all I need to do is to properly install it on the shock tower. I have Norm Nock’s p 167 from his “Tech Talk” which suggests creating the do it yourself “camber gauge”. What other recommendations does anyone have to make this project run smoothly? TIA for any and all assistance – Jim :driving:

Jim, I can only tell you what I did prior to adding new shock plates on my BJ7. Before removing the old plate I made a template (on the bare chassis of course) that stretched from one plate to the other. Before removing the old plates I took lots of measurements from various angles. Then it was just a matter of removing first one plate, attached the new one with the template, then remove the other plate and once again using the template installed the final one. However, if you are replacing the entire shock tower I don't see how you can do that without some sort of template. I do no Denis Welch sells, maybe others as well, an adjustable shock plate that allows you to make some adjustments after installing. Maybe someone who has done this can help you.
Good luck,

mmotors - Do you have a 3000? I had heard you only drive 100-sixs or sprites???

But thanks for your advice. It is a little late to go a look for a 3000
