Yes /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/iagree.gif pictures, dimensions of originals please! If the rubber bit was made from the same bonnet buffer extrusion then I'm not surprise if the originals look slightly different than repro buffers. The extrusion dies can be slightly (or more than slightly) different and the shape can change with the guides used during processing and as it cools. I have a box of old original buffers and repos over the years and almost all of them have variations, grooves, ridges, etc. I have designed extrusions and the processing is a bit of an art.

This is interesting. I looked today to see what my BJ8 had and I had only one side??? Never noticed before.

I was out in the garage installing my doors seals, signed onto the forum to view the above pictures of the end of the door seals and read the updates. I will see if I can
take some pictures and provide some dimensions. I have one that I refurbished and one in the original deteriorated condition from the other side.

Visited someone with an unrestored BJ8 and took the following pictures (before my camera batteries died). This guy has restored many Healeys and told me the repo seals he has bought have never been right. He said the rubber bits are the same as the bonnet buffers. As you can see the alum. brkt. screw into the chrome trim piece. Turns out my early BJ7 does not have holes for these two screws so mine does not get these parts. Anyway, here's the pics:

Hi Keoke, I have been caught in a few pretty hard down pours but didn't have leak problems there. I did have a generic rubber edge trim on the top edge of the shut face sheet metal so perhaps that served the same purpose?
This seal seems to be too far inboard to do much good anyway. If the water is getting in to that point then you gonna have some bailing to do anyway. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif At any rate, I will look long and hard at this area when I install the new top.

No John, that seal is broken and is not positioned correctly.Note the remains of the "V" notch, that notch should fit against the inboard corner of the Chrome cockpit trim.wid out em thats a big hole left uncovered.---Keoke??

Keoke ... Roger that (no not you Roger! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif) I can see where the aluminum brkt is bent, especially noticable when compared to the photos in the A/M book. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif John

My brackets were " bent " similar to your pics. I wasn't the one who took mine off of the car but from your pics they may all be bent in the same way ? Or perhaps something presses against them when the hood ( top ) or it's frame is on the car ? ..... Side note... I spent the last two evenings reloading pieces of software on my laptop in order to get my internal wireless card working again. No time for the Healey or my wife's camera. I should be paying bills now instead of crusing the forum but.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif
