Help with door seals please

I just received my bristlflex door seals and will hopefully get a chance to put them in this weekend. I am puzzled by two metal clips MacGregor sent me; I can't figure out where they would go. I am including a picture of my old door seal. Here is a picture of the area I am talking about. Sorry for the poor quality. I had nothing to go by, so when I installed my first door seals they just sort of abrubtly end at the top. When I was restoring my car, I did weld holes shut if I did not find a purpose for them, since the PO had added many extra holes.

Here is a picure of the clips. If anyone can give me some help on this, it would greatly be appreciated. A picture would help greatly if you have the time.

When I installed my Bristleflex I was able to run it right up to the trim strip on the top of the dash. This way the end was not obvious. I didn't get any clips when I bought the seal although I bought it from him in person. The only thing I could think of for them is for the wiring harness that goes under the door on the right side of the car. But I used clips that were shaped more like a question mark and didn't go all the way around the harness. There is no need to remove the panel when installing the seal so I would say just add the clips to your part collection.

At the top of the seal at the back of the door I didn't like the exposed open end of the seal tube. I used a little Super Glue inside the tube and clamped it closed till the glue had plenty of time to set up.

Okies, hears the deal. One clamp on each end. One gets bolted under the dash to terminate that end the other gets bolted under the pannel to the rear of the door opening to terminate that end. Remove the pannel to get it done.

I get how it ends in the rear, but I am not sure I understand still how it goes near the dash. Can anyone post a picture of this area?

hmm, not tonight, tis late. Just went and looked, I lied. It goes to the first screw/bolt holding the dash suround on. Should be an easy fit.

Jack, your explanation about where the seal ends actually helps explain why my dash surround does not match up with the doors. By tucking it in below the surround, it should raise the dash surround just enough to meet the door surround. I think I understand how the door seal ends now, but I do not want to proceed until I am sure. Can someone post a close up of this area?

Thank you so much!!! Not quite what I understood, but the pic makes is very clear. My handle has smudges too. When my wife drives, I hang on for dear life! She is a nurse, but always said she would have liked to be a race car driver if that hadn't worked out as a nurse.

I am cutting out the interior panels and wonder if the seals will go over the edge of the panels or just butt up against them? Somewhere I have a sample from McGregers, but like most other things now lost in the clutter.

Thank You

Seals and interor panels do not overlap.

Looks just like the way Jack did it. Makes a lot of sense now that I have seen it installed correctly. With the shape of my car and that fact that it had been in storage so long, I am pretty sure mine was original too. The rear area was intact, but the front was not. It had rotted and been pulled away from the dash area.

I don't know if this should be a new thread, but was the aluminum surround on the dash covered originally? I polished mine, but when the sun comes out in a few months, I could see how this might make a nasty glare while driving.
