I am trying to remove the door glass on my 74 MGB convertible to replace the outer weatherstripping. I got all the bolts out but am having trouble removing the door glass. My "Complete Official MGB" says to "Release the window regulator arc from the bottom of the door glass" (whatever that means). Lindsay Porter's restoration book says to "slide the rollers out the bottom of the channel fixed to the bottom of the window glass, and then "lift the glass up and out of the door".
The glass is very firmly affixed to its metal channel with a rubber insulator. I cannot manipulate the regulator inside the door to get anywhere near enough room to slide the regulator arms out from the window channel.
Any idea what I am doing wrong? Is there a hidden secret here that anyone is willing to share?
Would removing the vent widow frame give me enough room to maneuver? Porter's book shows the door glass coming out with the vent window assembly still in place.
