Brake Line

Novice Bruce here. Restoring 66 sprite. Put new seals in front brake caliper. Bleeding the lines the brakes would not release from disc. Checked the rubber lines from caliper to hard lines, while I could force air through just normal breath I had to blow hard. I assume the line has colasped inside ( look to be the original lines so forty plus years old). When they locked up I could let of most pressure by cracking the bleeder I could turn the disc but there still seemed to be more resistant than I think should be. Question: when brakes released should disc turn without any resistance. Have ordered new brake lines are there any other areas I should check out. thanks Bruce

They will release but disc brake design is for the spinning of the rotor to move the pads back just a hair. So testing them on a jack is not the best way, but they should still release when the pedal is let up.
How is the master cylinder? they can clog up with mung over time too, or mushy seals.
This will prevent the backflow of fluid in the master when the brake is released.
And if your hoses are more than 10 years old. REPLACE THEM!!! Not only do they swell up, but they also burst at the worst possible second.
Imagine, a ball rolls out in front of your car, followed by a little kid chasing it.
You are only doing 25 mph but you mash the brake pedal to avoid the child, the hose bursts, the pedal goes to the floor. Those 2 words you just shouted will not help that child, or dog, or SUV that made a sudden stop in front of you.
Replace the 3 rubber brake hoses every 10 years.
They are embossed with a production date unless they are older than the mid 70s, and if you do not see a date, they are over 30 years old, so replace them.
