TR4/4A TR4A Fuel Pump Problem?

No gas at the carbs, stalled going 50MPH.

I'm checking the fuel lines for obstruction at this time, but I note something strange. There's a bright stainless steel pivot pin sticking out of the fuel pump right about where the manual shows the fuel pump "cam arm" to be. If I'm not mistaken, the pump is probably coming apart from engine vibration, and the pin is just working its way out. The cam arm or "pump flipper" must be pushed right out of place and might be damaged.

I may need to remove the pump.

Is this a common issue with TR fuel pumps?

I had this happen on my GT6 pump. I was lucky that I found all the pieces in the bottom of the pump. The pump had to come off, and once I had it back together I took a hammer and center punch and punched the center of the pin on both ends to spread it a bit. That was about 5 years ago and it been ok since.

Very common Kent. My solution was similar to Jim's... I just took it (the fuel pump) off, reinserted the pin, and nicked the edges of the pin in a couple of places with a punch to hold it in place.

Thanks guys. I'm whacking it with a center punch right now. I'm also making a new gasket out of hardware store stock.

The original pumps have a circlip on each end of that shaft... the repros are typically a friction fit. I put my pin back in with a bit of JB Weld on each end and it held fine... now I have the correct pump with a priming lever and the more secure pin.
