TR2/3/3A TR3A Post 60000 Wiring Harness

Anyone know if the main British parts houses carry the same harness or if they differ in manufacturer or quality? One of them has a sale running this week (don't know if it is appropriate to name names here). If we can name names, who makes the best harness?

British Wiring makes some of the the best harnesses IMHO. Call the vendor and ask them who makes theirs, or better yet, call British Wiring. Usually these people will tell you what you want to know. All pretty nice people.

On both the early and the late TR3As that I restored, I sent the harnesses to Rhode Island Wiring. They covered the exteriors with a new woven covering, just like the original. In both cases, there were a few wires where heat and gasoline had made the vinyl brittle ans it was cracked. They replaced those wires before re-covering the loom. In both cases, it was cheaper than new harnesses.

You may want to go the UK route as I just did. Rimmers has a 20% off sale ending at the end of January. Roughly $175 delivered, took about a week from from the order entry. Bought a post-60K harness, vinyl covered.

If you want a visual inspection,I don't have a problem if you want to take a look at it. Saturday club breakfast is a possibility, pm me if interested.

If you are considering getting one from the UK you could try Autosparks . They supply many of the Triumph suppliers and have a very good name. Unfortunately their web site doesn't seem to list a TR3 wiring loom, but it would be worth e-mailing them. They can even add extra wires for spot lights, etc.

For quality, I will agree with Bill. British Wiring sells a very high quality product.
Does your harness have a white tracer through the loom?

Hey Randy (or anyone else) - do you have an emailable price list for Rimmers? I can't get one off the site. I emailed and asked them for one, but they can only send them via post, which will be too late to get in on the sale.

That sounds like a really good price for the harness!

The Rimmers site is a little painful, but you can get the price online. First, download their pdf TR3 catalog. Post 60K PVC wiring loom is part number 207162PVC. Then plug that number into their price search, and you'll get: 104.68 GBP or $157 excluding vat. 20% off gets about $30 knocked off, I think shipping will be about $40, which gets you to about $170-ish delivered.

A word of caution though. I haven't fitted the loom, so make sure it is what you want, and if I made a mistake, don't repeat it. For example, I'm pretty sure looms for the TR3As are not left/right handed like the later cars, but if they are I just bought the wrong loom..

If you can I'd advise calling in the order - they are very fast and you'll get around any issues that might crop up with online ordering if it is more set up for the UK.
