TR2/3/3A TR-3A windshield frame disassembly

There are 4 screws along the bottom (2 right 2 left)of the TR-3A windshield frame that are not cooperating as I attempt to disassmble the frame for restoration. I have not attacked them aggressively yet but fear I am going to have to drill and use an extractor. Sure wish I had broken the windshield a few times since I got the car in 1966 so these would have been in and out a few times.
1) does anyone have any experience to share in getting these out?
2) can someone tell me what size screw they are so I can replace if I destroy them getting them out and can't measure them for replacement? Thanks Tom

Unfortunately, you probably won't have too much luck getting them out. I tried and was unsuccessful. I wound up just drilling the heads off the screws and replacing the "L" shaped piece along with new screws. IIRC, I got the parts from Moss.

Edit: Here's the Moss parts plate for the windscreen. #41 is the "corner bracket set". Both brackets with the screws.

BTW, those screws are "BA" threads, not SAE. I don't remember whether they are 2BA or 4BA. This link explains BA threads and other British threads. Most of the threads smaller then 1/4" on the TR3 are not SAE size. Most of those that I have run into are either 2BA or 4BA. It pays to get those size taps if you're restoring a TR3.

I can second Art's comments. Exactly the same thing.

A third on that. Even after getting a good grip all I had was a torqued off screw. The angle piece was too rusted.

If you get them out and you want to clean up the threads you will need a BA tap. I don't remember what number tap it is but I can check later if you need the size. The other threads in the frame are also BA.
