Tools valuation?

What's the best way to put a value on a lifetime set of professional tools, tool boxes, etc? My brother was a professional mechanic for 25+ years. His family will want to sell his equipment. Is there a market for this sort of thing? What's the best way to try to sell - piece by piece, in sets, or as a whole? Ebay, Craigslist, or......? Please don't ask what's for sale, nothing is for sale yet and I honestly don't know. I am just trying to get things in place during this extremely unfortunate time. Tool sales have to be among the most active categories on both Ebay and Craigslist - particularly "truck sold" tools (Snap-On, Matco, Mac, Cornwell). I certainly would sell them in the quantities and groups as they were purchased when new (rather than all combined). I think it will be made clear if you start searching Ebay with words such as: Ingersol Rand impact gun, Matco ratchets, Snap on screwdrivers, wrench sets, hammers, tap & die sets, pry bars etc. The market price is quite high for well cared for tools - primarily because of the very high prices for new professional tools.
Haven't gone your route in some years but certainly remember the pain felt. Sorry.
