Hi All - on my way home recently I lost the connection between throttle pedal and carbs. Thankfully I was only a mile from home, so a quick half turn on the idle adjustment and I got home, albeit rather slowly. A quick check in the warmth of my garage and it appears that the connection between the shaft on the accelerator pedal and the first operating lever had failed. Actually the operating lever had become loose and fallen off the shaft. Right hand drive - the shaft just above the oil filter.
A question however - if I return the operating lever to the correct position on the accelerator shaft (by correct I mean lining up the 2 ball joints of the following lever) leaves about half an inch of free play (end float) on the accelerator shaft (and pedal). Should I have this much free play - have I lost a "packing" piece/spacer, which would take out the sideways play?
