Throttle cable

I am in need of a throttle cable for a 1980 TR8, non-FI.

FWIW, I had a lot of trouble with reproduction throttle cables not lasting on my Stag. So I ducked into the nearest bicycle shop and picked up their longest "teflon lined" brake cable. Worked out very well, and cost about 1/4 what I'd been paying for the repros.

Mike, I was going to post what Randall said when you posted on Woody's forum. There are a few who have gone that route.
Thought I'd wait and see if Clint could dig something up first,but Randall took care of that.

The use of a bicycle brake line is an interesting idea.

Last summer the new VB cable I had installed broke..not their fault..., so I went to Wal-Mart and got a set of bicycle handbrake repair cables. There were 2 of the 4 in the pack that were long enough, and I am still using the first one.

He's done a fairly good job of keeping the inventories accuarate though.

I have an email in to Brad and had a short discussion with Woody the other night about the rarity of TR8 accel. cables.

I have my car in a shop, in Austin, TX and the mgr. said he had a fix on an original for $150. His mechanic has the old cable working and I will drive my car (keeping fingers crossed) until I find a one I can afford.

Still on the hunt.

If I had a nickel....for every sale made of stainless steel brake cable with teflon lined housing that was used for everything and anything other than a bicycle's caliper brake, I'd have alot of nickels. There was one guy in particular whose restorations of big Healey's were wonderful. His business card read something like "Bob's Toys For Big Boys". The guy was good.
