I need fit the tenax studs that hold down the tonneau etc on my BJ8.

The parts suppliers list an assortment of studs, both tenax and lift the dot. Which ones fit where? What do I need to order?

Hmmm, that's a tough question. If you look at a MOSS catalog it might show a picture of what goes where. The lift-the-dot studs are larger and more round. The Tenax are smaller and are pointed at the top. Tenax connectors are large with what looks like a hat on top. The lift-the-dot connectors are the flat ones. They both come with either wood screw shanks or threaded like for a machine screw and also different lengths. I'd google the fittings and look for the English company that sells them, perhaps they can even tell you how many of each you need.

I have a set of fasteners from one of the parts suppliers. They have supplied ten tenax and five lift the dot, all with machine threads.
Now I just need to work out where to fit them?

The machine threads are stronger. The others are brass wood screw threads and break off easily in metal.
Make sure you buy the British Tenax fasteners - the German ones as used on old Porsches are different. They say "Britain" or "Germany" stamped into the lift-device.

Now I can not be 100% sure about this being correct 'cause I used what was available on the car when I bought my tonneau, but on my BJ7 there are two tenax fasteners at the top of the rear shroud for the rear of the tonneau, there is one tenax each side just behind the doors just behind the chrome finisher, there are three lift a dots along the top of the dash board - one in each corner near the quarter lights and the third is holding the passenger side of the tonneau near the mirror, there is a lift a dot on the chrome door finisher just behind the quarter light. I do believe that there should be 3 tenax behind the fold down back seat squab, and along the side panels to the rear seats - these are for the hood cover. I have just had a look at Anders Ditlev Clausager's restorers guide and it is not giving much away 'cept that there are definitely three fixings across the back one near each corner and one in the center - also reinforced by Roger Moment's book. There are no studs on the side on both books, they were on the BJ7s. There are also pop studs to hold down the flaps for when the seat belts are not passing through the tonneau.
