odd structural question

With all the talk about welding vs bonding panels, just what is structal and what's not on a spridget.

It's unibody... pretty much everything is structural, to one extent or another.

Certainly the sills (inner and outer) are important structural members... Ditto A-pillars, cowl, firewall, rear bulkhead. The front fenders and hood are just about the only things that aren't (very) structural, IMHO.

just wondering , they say you can use the bonding system on non-structural panels. but where does that mean exactly?

Floors are something I always use FUSOR glue to install.

I do not know about the strength of modern glues, but I know that almost all panels in spridgets contribute something to the rigidity (except bonnet, boot lid, front fenders, and doors) ... although I've seen a few where the doors were keeping the car from breaking in half.

that's right Trevor for some car's if you want to lower them you just open the door's. hehe.

they're gluing automobiles together today. I'd expect to see lots more carbon fiber construction. Anyone who has ever used marine epoxy can attest to its strength and the fact that it can be sanded and painted over- if it was good enough for the nuclear powered United States submarine navy, I would say that it was good enough for me too. Trust me.
