Mr. Blackley
In reply to your observations re: the MGB V8 on ebay.
The quality of seat covers is dictated by the manufacturer not the installer, you get what is available and you’re stuck with it.
The wooden prop is a temporary measure to allow the bonnet to open wide to obtain a good photo (nit picking).
If you had paid $175 to have the original tachometer converted to 8 cylinders by a so called Specialist and it only lasted 30 days wouldn’t you fit aftermarket? The word “shoved” is a very snide innuendo it implies that you wish to indicate poor workmanship (nasty nit picking).
Sill Covers: If you were a little more observant you might have realized that the wheels have a little more offset than standard which causes water splash and stone chips at the front and rear of the sills. The SS covers protect the paintwork and look far superior to those tacky vinyl stickers so often fitted to MGB.
America seems to have an excess of armchair mechanics that see all, say all, and know very little. I would have thought BCF was formed to help, educate and entertain not destruct the British Car Scene.
Lastly the price? I suggest you visit a few professional restorers and get some quotes to replicate a car to this standard and revise your opinions.
This paranoa with cheap, cheap, cheap, is killing the LBC scene. Think about it!
