Hi,
I do not have much experience as an automotive mechanic, but I need some help.
My 66 ran great for about 60 days, I have been trying to sort out the problems with the dash lights and the turn signals, so I have been doing some wiring work. I did something to drain the battery, so I put it on a changer. The car started right up and I was able to drive around for a day. I parked the car in the garage, I left it sit for a week and the battery was dead again. I put it back on the charger, tried to start it and it wont start, the starter spins, the engine turns over and it kind of coughs while the ignition is on. I pulled the fuel line to the Weber carburetor, and I have fuel flow. I pulled a spark plug wire and I get an arc. I sprayed starter fluid into the carb and it did not start.
I bought a new PerTronix 40611 Flame-Thrower 40,000 Volt 3.0 ohm coil, that did not help.
Please give me a list of what I should do to diagnose my problem.
Thanks,
John
