It's th' "Little Things"...

Wot can make me happy:

About four years ago I bought a "Wholesale Tools" 50' air line for the compressor here at th' hovel. Cheap, under $20, IIRC. I did this because I couldn't FIND the line I knew was here ~someplace~...

Well two weeks ago that pretty blue, cheap line started lookin' like a boa constrictor wot swallowed two dozen tennis balls. Degraded from inside-out. I had to resort to filling tires and other air related tasks with the #50-max line on my regulated outlet (paint guns, etc.).

Today I went exploring thru th' garage and FOUND my 300PSI rated hose!!! Fittin's fitted, I now have "raw" air pressure again!!! YAY fer ME! :smirk:

Don't wait, Tony. Not pleasant if it goes all at once... it can do some damage to fragile stuff as it flails around. You can't catch it fast enuff. :wink:

Good for you... but I'm surprized you didn't find it the day after buying the new one... or the day after buying another new one to replace your new one that burst.

"lost" stuff is always returned by the gremlins when its been replaced... must be some kind of gremlin law... :jester:

You're right James. It may be that I've stumbled onto (or into) some kinda gremlin zen state... I just couldn't bring meself to spend the lolly on another cheezy hose to replace the first cheesy one, knowing there was a ~real~ one here hidden by those pesky li'l critters. I was on the verge of "The Trip" several times but resisted. Then as I sat here in front of th' GPU I looked UP. A box in the rafters caught my attention and I had that: "Ah HAH!" moment.

Not sure if I out-patienced the buggers or my senility is in remission. Time will tell.

Meanwhile I can air up a tire in seconds now. :laugh:

Guys, to prevent damage from any air line that might break you can install an inline "air fuse" that will shut off flow if the flow excedes the set amount. I use a 50 cfm unit on the outlet of my compressor. They are available at Grainger or McMaster-Carr. Here's the link to the Grainger catalog page. https://www.grainger.com/Grainger/items/5ZL37

While you are worrying about "destructive devices" in the garage, don't forget the flipping door springs.If you have the "stretchy springs" as opposed to the ones that are coiled on a shaft by the door, RUN A LOOP OF CABLE THROUGH THEM to contain flying parts due to the inevitable breakage.Springs are tensioned when the door is closed, and you can just bet that the gremlins will direct the parts where they will do the most damage.
