...that bring a grin to your face. They put one of those radar trailers in our neighborhood that show you your speed as you drive by (no, not due to my driving) and when I went by it today in the TR8 I decided to check how accurate my speedometer was.

40 mph on the speedo was exactly 40 mph on the radar unit. Exactly.

OK, OK, I know it is a small thing but all I could think was SWEET!

OK - back to your regular programing.

Lot different than the one in my neighborhood, then. The one here seems to blink random numbers more or less independant of what speed I (or the surrounding traffic) is driving. I've gone past @ 50mph and it said 33; then another time at 35 and it blinked first 40, then 23 then went blank.

They use the data from those things to determine the speed limit; so I normally make a point of passing it as fast as possible. I've never gotten it to read above 43.

Jerry Lee Lewis said it best ...."A whole lotta shakin going on..." So I broke down this Winter and had the speedo in the TR3 rebuilt. Glad I did. Took a ride on the country roads today...and there he was...Johnny Law...I yep...I was within limits! Just the little things = a smile!

When I was in college, they used to have an overhead speed sign on I-10 between Phoenix and Tucson. The intent was to let you know you were speeding in the middle of fricken nowhere and at night you could see it coming for miles. You had enough time to think......Hmmmm....I wonder how fast........ and gas it up to see how big a number you could post on the big screen. Alas, it was only a 2 digit sign. I'm told they later removed it because apparently too many other people think the same way as me.

BTW, took first trip around the block with my 8 today after 15 years in hibernation.

Right on Rich, right on.

How did she run?

Any luck on the power to the cockpit gauges and lights?

Once warm, she ran great. The rubber flex line part of the clutch hydraulics is leaking so I had to pump the clutch and I've got a sticky brake (all to be expected) so once that stuff gets sorted it should drive fine. The electrics are another matter, there's probably a group ground someone that is troublesome. Schematics are nice but they don't tell you where in the car the physical grounds reside. The 8 will be shoved aside for a couple weeks. Working on the 24 hours of lemons car today. Here's an action pic of the beauty (#47) https://jalopnik.com/5119162/arse-freeze+a+palooza-lemons-day-one-complete-triumph-tr7-in-the-lead
and then I'm traveling this week with a weekend of charity work after that. I still don't know what I'm going to do with the 8 as I physically don't fit all the well in it. (thigh/wheel interference) I fit much better in the 6. I always thought the wedge cars fit bigger people better but perhaps because this one has Recaros in it that somehow is screwing up the ergonomics. I'm thinking I'll have the 8 roadworthy enough to drive it to VTR/Triumphest and then decide what to do with it.

She'll sell to someone at VTR if you bring her up...

How is the Lemons TR7 running? I had the distinct honor of driving next to her at one of the breakfast things a couple months ago....

It's not running at all. Cylinder head is off getting refreshed. Yeah, it's a real honor to be around it. Working to fix all the exhaust leaks. Also replaced the original shocks/struts which may make it handle a little better.

I got my TR6 out for the first time this year, snow finally gone, and thought I would check the indicated speedo reading against my GPS since I put new 205/70R/15 Dunlops on late last year. To my intense surprise it was exactly correct with the new tires.
