Lovely day today, nearly 60f and sunny. Spent a good part of yesterday clearing out my storage unit and bringing the MGB back home. Felt good to have that unit gone -- somehow, having so much stuff that it didn't all fit on my 1/3 acre lot just seemed wrong. The simplification process continues...

So today I needed to go pick up some bread (special gluten-free bread my wife needs), so I took the BMW out for a nice 80 mile ride. While I was out I put the MGB in the driveway to let the top heat up a bit in the sun so I could remove it. Came home, removed the top, and decided to take a little spin that turned into a 50 mile cruise up to the snow gate for Wolf Creek pass.

Sometimes I forget just how much I like this car. As you all know, I struggled hard with my decision to sell the Tunebug last year -- that was a very special car. That said, I really like driving the MGB more. I love the right hand drive; it's silly, I know, but it just makes the drive that much more special. Handling is great, power is fine (could use a Hap-built motor someday though), overdrive is great... I could go on. I really think I've found my car. The smile on my face was just huge.

Up at the parking area at Wolf Creek -- the snowmobilers must have though I was the crazy one.

Looks great!

I won't post a picture of our weather here.

Mine's been out a number of times, driven to work. But I haven't taken the top off yet, since it tends to sit in our parking lot at least 8 hours or longer (I'm teaching some night classes this semester.

I took the top off around last March and it never went up until again until around December. Top will come off soon.

I use my top quite a bit -- more for cold than for rain. Need to do some work on the interior, though, and it's much easier to do with the top off.

I hear you Drew, the Spridgets as much as I loved racing them, never were comforatble enough for me as a big man on the street, and the MGB is about as modern a riding classic car as you can get, and one that you don't mind taking on a longer trips than you would the Spridget. I always tell people the only people that don't like MGBs are the ones who have never drove a good one.

I did a 650 mile road trip in the MGB last May with my local club, about a month after I bought the car. That trip probably sealed the deal. Had some great spirited driving, my wife actually volunteered to come along (she never wanted to ride in the Sprite) and on the way home we took the easy route and just sped up the freeway -- ah the pleasures of a factory overdrive. Still feels vintage to work on and drive, but otherwise modern in its performance envelope for the most part, even when stock like mine is.

Now I just need a nice big raise at work (hahaha) so I can afford to ship the engine to Hap. I can dream, I guess.
