exhaust clamp

I found out about this style clamp at the exhaust shop that did the work on my system.

It is very strong and easy to put on. Besides that it is stainless and does not distort the pipes. Here it is being installed on my Pacesetter header extension. Because it does not distort the pipes they can come apart if I need to remove my headers. Below is a link to where they can be purchased. I got mine at Bumper to Bumper. They come in several sizes starting at 2" and up by 1/4" increments.

Does this have a hanger Tom? Or is there a version that has a hanger? This looks like a pretty effective clamp, for sure.

I have been using stainless steel plumbing clamps on my cars for years. They are about 2 to 3 inches wide and have a couple of radiator clamps to secure them. The intended use for them was to secure drainage piping pieces together. They cost about $6 each and can be bought at any supply house. You just have to make sure that the exhaust pipes slide into each other a good distance, and obviously you don't use the rubber sealing gasket. I am a plumber by trade. I also have two race cars with exhaust systems that come on and off frequently. These little babies make it a snap.

Hi Ross, it does not come with a hanger but one could easily be made.

Tom- you could have saved some $$ using DPO Pedro's
exhaust system install method. He just tack welded
everything to the frame. No hangers or clamps required.

Thrifty concept, eh?

Yupper!!

The idiot had the entire system welded to
the frame members. It saved DPO Pedro the cost
of a few new hangers.

It cost me a small $$ fortune to have the welds carefully
ground out and then the exhaust system re-installed
properly.

The actual hangers were the least $$ expensive part
of correcting DPO Pedro's half a$$ed mess.
