Exhaust Pipe Hose

Anyone have advice on hose to run the exhaust (from a single pipe) out of a garage, to allow tuning (i.e. trying to get the thing running) indoors, without poisoning oneself? The professional stuff is not inexpensive and I got wondering if there are alternatives for a short term application. The vehicle is a 1973 BMW 2002 that we're attempting to convert to Simple Digital Systems EFI, with gutted Webers acting as the throttle bodies. We cranked it over for the first time in many years last Friday and the floor puddle proved we had oil through the remote filter, but we've got no spark at the moment. Touch wood, resolve that issue this Friday, and then see if it'll start. Forecast is -1C (30F, about) Friday but it was colder than heck last week (-30C/-15F) and I expect that we'll be playing with this thing during some frosty times . Thanks, Doug.

I don't think any of the marine hoses or other plastic components shown would stand up to engine exhaust temperatures but this might:

How about aluminum dryer hose? You just need to figure out the adapter from pipe to hose.

Excuse the bad pictures,but got to it as fast as I could. I believe I got this from JC Whitney in 1993 when I built the garage. Was not real expense but keeps you and the family safe. Seals around exhaust pipe and vents out. So, if the garage is attached to the house is safe to run older vehicle without fuming the house. I do not know if they are still in business, but I know these are still available to commercial shops and can be installed by the diy person. I have the dual pipes and single pipe. Heavy rubber and hangars to attach to vehicle. Dryer hoses and bilge hoses not good, they are for fuel fumes,this will run a sealed exhaust out the door. As I cut the hole thrundoor, I used the foam from the cut to seal inside when not in use.

Years ago I bought two flex hoses to do the same thing with my ‘70 Vette. The 70 Vette has rectangular outlets at the rear roll pan and some rectangular adapters came with the hoses. Should work on the Healey. I think I bought them at Summit.

I have used them on Land Rovers, MINIs, Jaguar, Chevy, Ford and anything that came into the garage. Has adapters for just about everything single exhaust or dual.

Summit has them for single or dual exhausts from 2.5 to 6 inches. Garage door ports also. PJ
