Dunlop Racing Tyres

I'm on a roll so here's my second post.

About a month ago there was an interesting thread on the Healey team.net list about tyre sizes, makes, looks, profiles, cost vs annual mileage etc, including the amazing fact (to me) that you guys in the US can get perfectly good tyres for $30!

For me the best looking tyre on a Healey is the Dunlop Racing Tyre......but they're for racing ..so I assume they are soft and dont last long. Anybody got any experience of running them on a road car?

When I lived in Canada, I was too lazy to take off my snow tyres on the BJ9 and chewed them up in no time. Would the Dunlops be the same?

Can't say about the tyres but let us have a look at your BJ9 if you have any photos, Was it an experimental model?

I have looked at the site, it makes an interesting read, the reference piccys of the 100/6 are very interesting, I had one some 30 years ago, and I have just recently sold an almost basket case that is being converted to a racer, in both cases the rear side screen fixing was manufactured from a steel rod suitably flattened and fashioned to get over the door trim with a flat fork detail to fit into the door fixing, the front was similarly made with flats to screw to the screen. In my view these fixings were the best to look at, the flat metal ones seem tacky in comparison.

I'm glad you like the site. Its still expanding as I come across new material. I have a bug in my web programme at present so I can't make changes.

There is an error in the BN6 section. The blue car does in fact have the right pattern seats. I just compared it to an original brochure I just bought on e-bay

My car doesn't have its original side screens. I haven,t seen any of the type you mention but I'll keep a look out for them and post a copy if I get one

Great website Derek! Got lost in it reading about 100 sixes. Also, loved the Swiss photos. I have a BN7 #5423 that came with conical tail reflectors and kept them on the car. Many have said that was incorrect. Still, I like them and always said they came with the car.
