disassembling/cleaning valve rocker train

Searched the archive for info on this. First time dismantling the valve train on a 948cc motor. Once the cotter pin and end washers come off, do the rockers and pedestals slide off fairly easily or is it more of a press fit? Thanks for the advice

You should find that it will all slide apart easily, pay close attention to the order of things. spacers and springs and shims if there are any. inspect for worn bushings and shaft wear.

One pedestal is secured with a grub screw, front one I think.
Any perceptable wear of the shaft is BAD.

Use to be a place in Calif. I think that repaired, rebuilt rocker arm assys. Site address no longer works. sigh. They had good prices as well just over 100 bucks as I remember, used new shaft and bored all the rockers.

FOUND IT, GIVE EM A CALL AND REPORT BACK PLS.

You could just get a new shaft and check for fit of the rocker arms.
If they turn freely without binding or are too loose, tested by rocking sideways (front/rear with car), they should be ok.

If you really want to do more, get a set of offset bushings from APT.

They press in easily and ream them out to 9/16 with a straight reamer. Then you have a nice high performance set that doesn't look any different than stock.
They sell the shaft for around 50
