Clutch slave for 3/4" master bore

Okay, I've read here that either the 1" or 7/8" clutch slave cylinder will work with a 1275/ribcase. Am I correct that the 7/8" is what was in the Bugeye originally? That sort has a hard line all the way to the slave -- that would be my preference as I won't have to fabricate some sort of bracket for the soft line of the later type.

I'm putting together an order, and want to make sure I pick up the proper slave. For reference, I'm using the combined master cylinder, re-sleeved to 3/4" for the disc brake conversion.

Use the standard slave and hard line it. No prob.

By standard slave, do you mean the 7/8" one? Just want to make sure before I order anything.

1" will probably work , but the pedal effort will be light and require a bunch of travel. The 7/8" will require more effort, but will disengage higher in the pedal stroke. It has been so long since I had a standard tranny that I can not remember how much throw is needed at the slave.

I think original setup for a rib case was 7/8" master and 1" slave, but I'm learning that my memory has gone to the dogs since becoming a parent and getting old.

Drew, 7/8" IS correct. The first disc brake cars with tandem masters were all 3/4". They used the 7/8" slave and had ribcase transmissions. The 1" appears on 67 and newer with independent clutch and brake masters. The only potential issue you may encounter is throw of the slave push rod. You may want to have both short and long in hand when it comes to it. It is hard to predict which will work best, as other factors such as thickness of the engine's backplate and pressure plate height come into play.

Thanks folks. 7/8" it is. I've got 2 ribcases on hand, one later (74) and one of unknown year but certainly earlier. Hopefully between the two I'll have enough parts to make it all work.
