MGB Calace and ford v6 for MGB

I'm in the planning stages of installing a ford 4.0 V6 in a B and using the Calace body parts kit to ultimately build a mini Cobra. There is a lot of support for a GM V6 but little or none for the Ford. I presently drive a Ranger with a 4.0 and it is very quick and it would be nice to mimic the original intention of Shelby and installing the Ford into the ACE. Any help would be appreciated. Forgive my newbie status but we've all got to start some time

That Ranger 4.0 is a little tall isn't it? Does it have a rear sump?

Kenny, Are you a Snipe sailor too? Well I'll be ****. I just recently sold my old snipe and negotiating for an Interlake. My wife wants more space. As to the height of the ford I don't know. Maybe that is why you don't hear much about it. Maybe I'm not going to be able to do it.

A few measurements and some notebook paper and you'll know for sure.

As for the Snipe, I've been restoring it for a few months... Haven't had it on the water yet. But it'll be ready this spring. I can't wait!

We're off the original subject but when sailors bring up sailboats that will happen. My Snipe was OLD! fibreglass hull and a wooden mast, but it was fun. I've opt for the Interlake because it looks like a Snipe but it is 18 ft. and beamy.

Sold my sail boat of 22 years last year, a Hunter 27. Never look back.

'round here the threads wander in and out, on topic and off. There'll be someone show up, read this and know if it can be done or not.

So... I gotta ask again: you on the Lake?

That'sa nice beamy boat as well, Jack! Good Great Lakes one too. *sigh*. That's the one thing I miss about bein' close to water. I can't afford it here.

Mine is one of the first fiberglass snipes Loftland. With the high centerboard trunk, and deck-stepped Ian proctor aluminum mast. It was given to me free (along with a real good galvanized trailer). I got a suit of sails (sobstat - 1 main and 2 Jibs - one of wich is mylar) that were used twice for $100. New Harken carbo blocks all around - $500. New tires on the trailer $50. Now I just need all the lines, footstraps, and a tiller extension and she'll be ready to go.

I've got a 2acre pond but I've got to dry sail to the nearest lake which is about 10 miles away. It is called Cowan and it was once the home for the largest Snipe fleet in the US. Go figure.

erm... FL is surrounded by water.... and Tampa Bay ... is uhm... is not called a bay cause it's land locked.... *cough*

but yeah, it's pricey...

2 acres is a little small even for radio controlled boats. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

My closest place to sail is Lake Tuscaloosa - about 10-15 miles away. The guy who gave it to me had it in Georgia and sailed in the Atlantic with it before he moved here. I've promissed him he could go with me first time I take it out.

hehehehe, I've wanted a sailboat for a long time now. I'd love a 25-30ft cruiser... And I have nowhere to use one, unless I put it in the river and chugged it the 350 miles to the gulf once a year.
