Hello,
Just starting to get into the nuts and bolts of living with my LBC. I am making a long list of winter hibernation jobs, as well as fixing things as they occur.
One thing that has started recently is the ammeter needle starting to jump from side to side at a rather alarming frequency. I have recently changed the voltage regulator with a spare I got with the car, but whilst it temporarily seemed to solve the problem, it soon came back.
The one strange thing about this is the needle jumps back and forth, but when I put a load on the circuit by turning on the lights, it stops immediately and stays still.
What are your thoughts? Is it alternator? Or is it the regulator?
I am planning on doing the alternator upgrade that is written about on the VTR website. Has anyone else done this? What was your experience with the change?
Cheers,
Jim.
