Since no one else has, I thought I would report on the ABFM-PDX held Labor Day Weekend. There were 20, count 'em TWENTY Bug-Eyes, 5 Box Sprites and 5 Midgets amongst the hundreds of cars on the field. Everyone who had a Spridget thought that this one would win thanx to all the custom work on it, done with top quality. I guess what we see, others miss. Check out his air intake vent. He still has the fiberglass molds and I may be able to talk him into making more..His front valence was a work of art as well.
A local Portland guy took first in Box Sprites (yes the field is large enough to have separate categories for BE and Box Sprites ) This car was second and Jean S. (68 Sprite here on the BCF) took third with her magnificent maroon car. The swop meet had plenty of Spridget parts to be found. Bill M. was there trying to reduce inventory as was Mike B. I was hoping to find a replacement grill as the last time I had pulled it I saw the many of the rectangles were broken. Not only did I score one, but it was already black with all the mounting arms long gone. A direct replacement as those who know my car know the grill is held in with ty-wraps at most and usually just by friction.
